Just4Fun Anything Goes Race

Now, this should really be fun. This will be a race from Bearbottom to Captain Ron's, only about three miles and will be held on Satuday, Sept. 24, 2011.

You can enter anything you care to so long as it floats and does not have a motor. This means vessels like paddle boats or whatever else type contraption you might have or build. Yes, even an old-fashioned canoe is ok but we encourage the entry of more non-conventional boats in this race. The boat can be "Anthing Goes" but all entries still must follow the Race Rules and sign the Race Waiver.

THE MAIN EVENT
(shuttle will be available from end of race at Bagnell Dam back to Warsaw)
A two day paddle race on the entire Osage Arm of Lake of the Ozarks.

The main event includes 3 races in one:

The second annual 2 Dam Days Paddle Marathon on the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri will be held Sept 24 and 25, 2011.

Don't miss this challenging event. Comments from the first annual 2DamDays race included, "..toughest race I was ever in...I'll be back". What will it be like this year? Will it be a calm, windless weekend with no big cruisers around to make horrendous wakes? I doubt it. So if you're among the faint of heart, maybe you'd best stay at home. But if your heart jumps at the thought of a real challenge, plan to join in for the race between the dams.

Come for the challenge, but don't forget the BIG BUCKS! The 2DDUL (2DamDays Unlimited) has a guaranteed purse of $13,500 in prize money if all divisions are filled. In addition, the best overall time (and this includes all race categories within "The Main Event") will win an additional $1000! Last year the grand purse winner took home $2400!

The guaranted purse applies only to the unlimited divisions of the "Main Event" Purses for the other Main Event categories will be based solely on the number of entries in those categories.

These incude
2DDUL Masters
2DDRule3x27Open
2DDRule3x27Masters
and also for the Adventure Races

Those listed above will not be eligible for the guaranteed purse but will be based on the number of entries in each race and class. However, all entrie in the "Main Event" will be eligible for the grand prize of $1000 for the best overall time from Truman to Bagnell Dam

Hey Women! you won't believe this, but the guaranateed purse for you, if you race in the 2DDUL race, purse schedule is the same as that for the men. Equal rights and equal $BUCKS! Now, please do your part, don't let me down, show up in numbers that will put those guys to shame.

Here's the scoop on the "Main Event": The first day, Saturday, you will race from just below the Truman Dam (mile marker 89) to the most family fun place on the lake, Captain Ron's. Prize money will be awarded in each of the divisions for the top three positions. But there's a catch. In order to qualify for the winnings of the first day, those racing in the 2DDUL Open must complete the race by also finishing the second day. Entries in the 2DDUL Masters and in the 2DD Rule3x27 who choose not to race the second day are, however, eligible for prize money for winnings on Day one.

Purse schedule for winners the second day will be the same as for the first. A single individual could win first place both days and could also have the best over-all time of all divisions and categories in the "Main Event".

See race details.

The "Adventure" Races

For those adventure racers who enjoy the prospect of a challenging race on the Lake of the Lake of the Ozarks but who do not want the rigors of the Dam to Dam Main Event race, we have established the Adventure Series.

The Adventure Races will be Day One from Holiday Hills to Captain Ron's (about 31.5 miles) and Day Two will be from Captain Ron's to the El Capitan Mexican Restaurant. (again, about 23 miles). There will be winners on each day and participants will have the choice of racing only one or both of the days. Purse will be based on the number of entries and registration fee will be $100 per paddler whether you race Day One, Day Two, or on both days.

The first day will be on the "quiet" side of the Lake but the second day will be in the more populus region of the Lake. But rest assured about your safety. The Lake Community is committed to making this a safe race for you. Volunteers include many local resident boat shepherds, the Auxiliary Coast Guard, and regional Fire and Safety organizations. The State Water Patrol is also on board and local media and marinas will emphasize to power boaters the need to protect the paddlers.

What Is The 3x27 Rule

Rule 3x27 refers to the specification that all boats competing in this class must meet the so-called, 3x27 Rule which states that the boat must be at least 27 inches wide at the 3 inch watermark line and that the boat must be no more than 18 fett 6 inches long. In the 2DamDays Paddle Marathon, this Rule 3x27 category applies only to tandem boats. Most standard tandem canoes will meet this specification as will the "4-32" boats. Many, if not most, racing kayaks in the unlimited category will not meet this rule.
Boats in the Rule 3x27 category of the 2DamDays Paddle Marathon may be covered and have any type bailor in this race, for safety reasons. No rudders allowed and single blade paddles only. LOWA logo
